چکیده

Purpose This paper proposes a new multi-criteria decision-making method, called the vital-immaterial-mediocre method (VIMM), to determine weight of multiple conflicting and subjective criteria in problem. Design/methodology/approach The novel utilizes pairwise comparisons, vector-based procedures scoring approach weights criteria. VIMM compares alternatives by three crucial components, namely vital, immaterial mediocre vital criterion has largest effect on final results, followed then criterion, which is least impactful prioritization alternatives. developed two forms where first scenario designed solve one-goal problems, while second embraces goals. Findings To validate method’s performance applicability, applied problem sustainable supplier selection. Comparisons between VIMM, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) best-worst (BWM) reveal that significantly requires fewer comparisons. Moreover, works well with both fractional integer numbers its comparison procedures. Research limitations/implications As an implication for research, we have added development under fuzzy grey environments as direction optimization method. Practical implications managerial implications, not only provides less complex evaluation process, but it also generates consistent make reliable tool apply large number potential problems. Originality/value weighting there exist five major values brings over AHP BWM methods: comparisons compared BWM; sensitive criteria; goal-oriented exclusively takes goals into account; keeps validity reliability Decision-Makers’ (DMs’) opinions numbers.

Evaluation of recommender systems: A multi-criteria decision making approach

The evaluation and selection of recommender systems is a difficult decision making process. This difficulty is partially due to the large diversity of published evaluation criteria in addition to lack of standardized methods of evaluation. As such, a systematic methodology is needed that explicitly considers multiple, possibly conflicting metrics and assists decision makers to evaluate and find...

Fuzzy multi-criteria decision making method based on fuzzy structured element with incomplete weight information

The fuzzy structured element (FSE) theory is a very useful toolfor dealing with fuzzy multi-criteria decision making (MCDM)problems by transforming the criterion value vectors of eachalternative into the corresponding criterion function vectors. Inthis paper, some concepts related to function vectors are firstdefined, such as the inner product of two function vectors, thecosine of the included ...
